The beginnings of the publishing house “Jumava” date back to 1991, when the first simple brochures were released. In the 21st century, “Jumava” has grown into one of the largest and most prominent publishing houses in Latvia, producing high-quality, internationally recognized literature, children’s books, educational materials, scientific and spiritual works, as well as art albums such as “Latvian Cultural History”, “Latvian Brothers’ Cemetery”, “Riga Stock Exchange”, “Latvian Catholic Churches”, “Latvian Architecture” — many of which have received high acclaim and awards.

Over the years, “Jumava” has published works by many world-renowned authors, including Salman Rushdie, Carl von Clausewitz, Sofi Oksanen, Katharina Hagena, Timothy Snyder, Samuel Huntington, Daniel Kahneman, Michael Talbot, J.K. Rowling, Michael Scott, Camilla Läckberg. The publishing list also includes works by well-known and beloved Latvian authors such as Vizma Belševica, Alberts Bels, Ēriks Hānbergs, Imants Ziedonis, Laima Muktupāvela, Ojārs Vācietis, Gunārs Priede, Jānis Peters, Rūdolfs Blaumanis, Līga Blauas, Anna Žīgure, Jānis Ezeriņš, Aleksandrs Grīns, Aleksandrs Čaks.

Among its authors are also classics: Marcel Proust, Albert Camus, Franz Kafka, Jorge Luis Borges, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Charles Dickens, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Charlotte Brontë, Alexandre Dumas, Samuel Beckett, Jerome K. Jerome, Erich Maria Remarque, Françoise Sagan, Gabriel García Márquez.

As a socially active publishing house, we participate in events throughout Latvia, supporting the “Dante Alighieri Society” in Latvia, the Rotary Club, the Vagabond Club, and other initiatives in libraries and schools.

“Jumava” also takes part in numerous cultural activities, including the “Friendly Call” initiative, the “Golden Apple” awards, Latvian Literature Center events, and international book fairs in Frankfurt, London, and Leipzig.

A significant part of our book portfolio lies in cooperation with partners in Latvia: state and municipal institutions, cultural organizations, Latvijas Pasts, Latvijas Finieris, Latvijas Meži, and others.

We are also the Latvian partner of the internationally recognized publishing house Readers Digest. Several foreign publishers, such as Wieser, LIT Verlag, Friedrich Mauke Verlag, Dixi Publisher, Hovland and others, cooperate with “Jumava” in creating books for their readers.
